The news media has recently featured stories about a declining and challenging fundraising environment for a wide range of non-profit organizations during the current recession. But, what are the real facts of the case? What does the data actually show about patterns of philanthropic giving, and what really happens to giving during recessions? The facts are actually much more encouraging than the media suggests.
Dr. Cardaronella, Partner of Cardaronella Stirling Associates, a long term member of the Giving USA Editorial Review Board and a member of our local Chapter, will present data from Giving USA 2008, and the just released Giving USA analysis of the impact of recessions and economic slow-downs on philanthropic giving over the past forty years.
Dr. Cardaronella’s career includes positions as a faculty member at the University of Virginia, Chair of the Department of Political Science at Radford University. His career in institutional advancement includes senior positions at UC Santa Barbara, USC, University of Texas at Houston, UC San Francisco and University of Pennsylvania, where he was actively involved in its $1.2 billion campaign. His tenure as Vice President at Drexel University also included responsibility for development.
Note: The emphasis throughout the presentation will be on practical information that you can use, to encourage and educate your Board members and volunteers, and keep your fundraising efforts working productively no matter what the economy is doing.
Reservations are required. An additional $5 will be charged for registrations after 5:00 p.m. on Friday, September 12.
